The smartest fuel car? SAIC Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro launches on the market today!

May 30th ,2024

Preface

As the first model of SAIC Volkswagen to open a new era of "oil-electric intelligence", Tiguan L Pro not only breaks the stereotype that "oil cars are not smart", but also demonstrates the potential of joint venture brands in intelligent transformation. In the future, popular models such as Passat, Tiguan, and Touron will launch Pro versions to further fill the gap in the intelligence of fuel cars.

In the comparison between new energy vehicles and traditional fuel vehicles, intelligence has always been regarded as the unique advantage of electric vehicles. However, with the intensification of the electrification trend, car companies have focused their research and development on electric vehicles, while the demand for intelligence of traditional fuel vehicles has been ignored. It is in this market environment that SAIC Volkswagen keenly discovered the market gap of smart fuel vehicles and launched the so-called "smartest fuel car" - Tiguan L Pro.

Tiguan L Pro has been pre-sold and is scheduled to be officially launched on May 30. This model not only breaks the stereotype that "oil cars are not smart", but also opens a new era of "oil-electric intelligence and oil-electric equal rights".

Compared with new energy vehicles, fuel vehicles are often regarded by the outside world as technologically backward products. An industry insider once pointed out: "Buying a fuel vehicle now is like buying a BP machine when you have a smartphone." One of the main reasons why fuel vehicles are considered backward is that they are less intelligent, while electric vehicles are easier to develop intelligently due to the characteristics of their power system. Tiguan L Pro challenges this stereotype with its intelligent performance.

Tiguan L Pro is SAIC Volkswagen's first model equipped with IQ. Light high-resolution intelligent projection headlights, with a single side of up to 25,600 pixels. This configuration not only improves the safety of night driving, but also provides drivers with a better driving experience through exclusive lane lighting, dynamic lighting assistance and other functions.

In terms of interior, Tiguan L Pro is equipped with a 15-inch central control screen, an 11.6-inch co-pilot entertainment screen, a 10.3-inch full LCD instrument, and six-screen linkage such as W-HUD head-up display system and smartphones, full of technology. The vehicle-machine interaction system of Tiguan L Pro has been customized locally, integrating iFlytek's voice interaction system, the in-vehicle Tencent ecosystem and the V Mate smart assistant, which enhances the localization and convenience of the user experience.

In terms of intelligent driving, Tiguan L Pro is equipped with the IQ. Pilot intelligent assisted driving system jointly developed with DJI, which is adapted to Chinese road conditions and can achieve L2++ driving assistance within the range of 0-130km/h. The 24 sensors behind it, including binocular cameras and ultrasonic radars, and 2 new controllers provide powerful hardware support for intelligent driving. Specific functions include advanced adaptive cruise control, intelligent lane change, intelligent obstacle avoidance, etc., which significantly improve driving safety and driving convenience.

The intelligent performance of Tiguan L Pro is significantly better than other fuel vehicles of the same level, which completely changes the label of "unintelligent" of fuel vehicles and fills the market gap of intelligent fuel vehicles. Although the penetration rate of new energy vehicles has increased year by year, the fuel vehicle market cannot be ignored. Taking the sales in April as an example, the total retail sales of the passenger car market was 1.532 million vehicles, of which the sales of fuel vehicles were 858,000 vehicles. Many car owners still choose fuel vehicles due to range anxiety or preference for the handling of fuel vehicles. However, these car owners also desire an intelligent driving experience, and Tiguan L Pro is for them.

In the process of new energy vehicles competing with fuel vehicles for market share, new energy vehicles attract users with slogans such as "oil and electricity are the same price" and "electricity is lower than oil". Faced with this challenge, Tiguan L Pro not only relies on price reduction strategies to retain users, but also demonstrates the huge potential of fuel vehicles in intelligence through the slogan and actual performance of "oil and electricity are the same intelligence".

As the leader of joint venture brands, SAIC Volkswagen has ushered in the node of "forty years without confusion". Despite the strong challenges from domestic independent brands, SAIC Volkswagen has also seen new opportunities. While maintaining the advantages of fuel vehicles, SAIC Volkswagen has actively developed new energy vehicles and proposed a three-pronged strategy of "fuel vehicles + plug-in hybrid + pure electric". In the first four months of this year, SAIC Volkswagen's cumulative sales were 340,072 vehicles, an increase of 8.08% year-on-year; among them, the sales of new energy vehicles reached 37,000 vehicles, an increase of 128% year-on-year. In April, SAIC Volkswagen achieved sales of 92,013 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 4.18%; sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 10,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 56%.

As the first model of SAIC Volkswagen to open a new era of "oil-electric intelligence", Tiguan L Pro not only breaks the stereotype that "oil vehicles are not intelligent", but also demonstrates the potential of joint venture brands in intelligent transformation. In the future, popular models such as Passat, Tiguan, and Touron will launch Pro versions to further fill the gap in the intelligence of fuel vehicles.
